On the 10th of July, 2024, Jean Luc Tevi was sentenced to 2 years and 11 months for slapping his defacto wife and threatening to kill her, which carries a collective sentence of 20 years in prison.

Mr Tevi was suspicious of his partner and accused her of speaking with another man.

According to the court, Mr Tevi was under the influence of kava and alcohol when he attacked his partner and threatened to kill her, to which the starting point of 40 months was adopted (3 years four months).

10% reduction was awarded for mitigating factors, and time spent in prison awaiting trial was also taken into account, Mr Jean’s final sentence was 2 years and 11 months.
