Transparency International Vanuatu (TIV) Advocate, Douglas Tamara has commended the recent appointment of Ms Florida Tumulango as the new chairlady of the Vanuatu National Youth Authority (VNYA).

Tamara made the comment on the enlightening decision by the Board in a traditionally male dominated society to elect the sole female as its Chairperson.

He said the seven male members of the Board are highly qualified individuals and Ms Tumulango will also benefit immensely from their professional direction.

Young people in Vanuatu and around the world will continue to be the focus for Governments since they represent the future prosperity of the nations which was why the Vanuatu Parliament passed the VNYA Act in 2018.

The Minister responsible for Youth Development, Willie Saatearoto, was personally present to witness the appointment of the Ministry’s first Board of Directors to conform to the Act on September 30.

Furthermore, he welcomed their decision to elect Tumulango, a female representative of the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as its first Chairperson.
