Two-swimmers-for-World-Aquatics-Championship

The Vanuatu Aquatic Federation (VAF) announced that two swimmers, Chloe Ameara and Leo Lebot, will represent the country at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The prestigious event, running from December 10 to 15, will feature some of the world’s best swimmers, marking a significant milestone for Vanuatu’s competitive swimming scene.

The team departed today, accompanied by Team Manager Kali Ameara and Coach Manuel Hotel.

Ameara, a 15-year-old student at the Port Vila International School, will compete in the 100-meter Backstroke and 100-meter Individual Medley.

17-year-old Lebot, in his final year at École Colardeau, will take on the 50-meter Butterfly and 50-meter Freestyle. Both athletes have balanced rigorous training schedules with their academic responsibilities, demonstrating remarkable dedication.

“As Team Manager, I am immensely proud of Chloe and Leo,” said Kali Ameara.

“Their resilience and determination in balancing schoolwork and training are inspiring. This championship is not just an opportunity to improve their personal bests and national records, but also to build their confidence on the international stage.”

VAF President, Nancy Miyake, expressed gratitude for the support that made this participation possible.

“We are incredibly thankful to be invited to send two swimmers to the Short Course World Championships. The World Aquatics Support Programme and the contributions from VASANOC have been vital for small organizations like ours. These opportunities foster national pride and inspire investment in sports infrastructure and athlete development,” Miyake said.

The federation acknowledged key supporters, including major donors World Aquatics, VASANOC, Nambawan Café, and the Doyle family, as well as coaches, administrators, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to prepare the two for this moment.
