Volley4change and Vanuatu Police Woman are holding a friendly “Volley4change Shield,” tournament on the 8th of March 2018 at the Vanuatu Beach Volleyball court at Stade from 9am to 12:30 pm in Port Vila.
This tournament will be an annual tournament for the Volley4change programme that will be held every year on the 8th of March each year to Celebrate, “International Woman’s Day.”
Some of the Sponsor for this tournament are already Switi, Asco Motors, Cello Vila and Grand Hotel others to be confirmed. The Volley4Change Shield is donated by Vanuatu Police Force.
There will be a special presentation by women in the Vanuatu Police Force & Vanuatu Women’s Centre on Family Violence in Vanuatu and “The Family Protection Act 2008”. This presentation will be held at 9:00am before the games begin.
Later on that day there will be a very special visit and handing over by the Australian High Commission Mrs Jenny Da Rin, she will be handing over the Volley4Change Shield to the Vanuatu Volleyball Federation (VVF) towards the tournament.
The Vanuatu Police Woman are also playing in the tournament, against some of the local Mamas from Eratap, Mele and Mele Maat Village with some other teams to be confirmed.
Vanuatu Volleyball Federation (VVF) is now collecting groups of mamas who are interested in this event, a maximum of at least 10 teams and it’s for free. Groups of mamas interested in this event are advice to come down to the Vanuatu Beach Volleyball Court at Stade in Port Vila to register their teams.
Volley4change Shield tournament is open to the public to come and support their teams and grab some useful information out of the Vanuatu Woman Centre and Vanuatu Police Force. The public are encouraged to engage with the Police women and those from the Vanuatu Women’s Centre. It is your opportunity to find out about “The Family Protection Act,” what it means, why we need it, and how it can help reduce violence against women in Vanuatu. There will also be information tents set up by Vanuatu Woman Centre and Police to give out information, brochures and flyers to the people watching the games and wanting to get more information on what the organisations do and how they can help.
Volley4Change is a Pacific Sports Programme by the Australian Government to promote the positive lifestyle changes through playing volleyball and also in helping to improve health quality in the communities in Vanuatu.
