A woman from Malekula has been remanded in custody after allegedly stabbing her partner to death with a knife during an argument in their home at BP Pon, Santo.

According to the incident report received by police, they were arguing over a cellphone, said Inspector Afreman Kender from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Unit at the Santo Police Station.

Police attended the scene after receiving a complaint lodged by the father of the deceased, he said.

The deceased who was in his mid-20’s was part Paama and Malekula.

Inspector Kender said police are investigating the incident.

He said the accused is expected to appear in court soon.

This is the first case that the police on Santo have recorded about a woman stabbing a man or partner fatally, said Inspector Kender from Santo.
