The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign will start tomorrow and end on December 18.

Vanuatu will join many countries around the world to advocate and fight against violence and all forms of discrimination against women and children.

The theme of this year’s event is, “From peace in the home to peace in the world-Make education safe for all”.

This year, the Ministry of Justice through the Department of Women’s Affairs will collaboration with NGOs and stakeholders will organise diffrent activities to commemorate the 16 days event.

 November 25 (tomorrow) is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. There will a parade through town to Independence Park where speeches and activities of the day will be staged.

Within the 16 days, the Family Protection Unit and Crime Prevention Unit will be at different communities, including Mele Maat, Etas, Rentapau, Club Hippique, No. 2 Lagoon, and Teouma to raise awareness on Domestic violence-related issues.

The International Day for People with Disability (IDPD) also coincides with the 16 days event. The Disability Desk with support from Stretem Rod Blong Jastis, Intrako and Oxfam has made it possible for the celebrations of IDPD to be celebrated in different communities in all the six provinces.
