As part of Sista’s ongoing commitment to strengthening women’s leadership and representation in the media sector, Sista’s Communications Coordinator continues to play an active role in the Women in Media Vanuatu (WIMV) Task Force. The Task Force was established in 2025 to support the development of a strong national network of women media practitioners and to establish a Women in Media Vanuatu Committee.

On 29 June 2026, Sista hosted a meeting at the Vanuatu Kaljoral Senta in Port Vila, bringing together women from a range of media and partner organisations. The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to review the draft Women in Media Vanuatu Terms of Reference, discuss the future direction of the network, and work towards electing the inaugural WIMV Committee.

Although there was insufficient attendance to proceed with the committee election, the meeting generated valuable discussions on how to strengthen the Women in Media Vanuatu network and improve participation. Participants shared recommendations on the draft Terms of Reference, explored practical ways to encourage regular engagement, and identified opportunities to build stronger professional connections among women working in the media sector.

The meeting also welcomed several women who had not previously participated in Women in Media Vanuatu activities, helping to broaden the network and introduce new perspectives. Participants recommended holding regular monthly networking meetings, sharing leadership responsibilities among members, and creating more informal spaces for women to connect and collaborate.

This activity was supported by the We Rise Coalition.
