The Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) and the Miss Vanuatu & Miss Port Vila Association are working together towards the beauty pageant that will be taking place at the end of this month (November).

Despite recent confusion over who was responsible for the beauty competition on social media, the Minister for Tourism, Trade, Commerce and Ni-Vanuatu Business, Joe Natuman has advised the Director of Tourism and General Manager for VTO to allow two VTO officers to participate with Miss Vanuatu Association, in a letter to the President of Miss Vanuatu, Mrs Michelle Bourie.

“By copy of this letter, i am letting the DOT (Department of Tourism) and VTO GM to allow Ms Brenda Andre and Mr Sebastien Bador to participate in your committee for the organisation of the event,” said Minister Natuman.

Natuman acknowledged Mrs Bourie for the opportunity to discuss the matter and for the decision to organise the 2016 Miss Vanuatu.

“The ministry supports you to organise the event, unfortunately we will not be able to support you financially because we did not plan for it.”

However, the Minister advised the Miss Vanuatu committee to discuss any future event with the Ministry, Department of Tourism and VTO before budgets are submitted so that some consideration can be given for possible budgetary allocation to support the event. READ MORE
