Vanuatu has been placed in a challenging group alongside Oceania champions New Zealand, hosts Tahiti, and New Caledonia for the 2025 OFC U-19 Women’s Championship.

The tournament is set to take place from September 21 to October 4 in Tahiti.

The official draw was conducted this week at Te Kahu o Kiwa, the home of football in Auckland, New Zealand. Group A consists of Fiji, Samoa, the Cook Islands, and the winner of the qualification stage.

The qualification stage will take place in Tonga from March 7 to 13, featuring Solomon Islands, Tonga, and American Samoa. The winner of this stage will secure the final spot in Group A for the September tournament.

While the Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) has yet to confirm the national squad for the tournament, Daily Sports understands that the Vanuatu Women’s pre-squad commenced training two weeks ago.

Training sessions are currently being held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in preparation for a friendly match against Australia next month.

The tournament will serve as a crucial platform for young female footballers across Oceania to showcase their talent on an international stage.

With powerhouse New Zealand in their group, Vanuatu will need to bring their best performance to compete at the highest level.

The 10th edition of the OFC U-19 Women’s Championship was held in Lautoka and Suva, Fiji, marking the first edition since the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Zealand won the tournament by two goals each from Manaia Elliott and Ruby Nathan ensuring that they resumed their dominance of the competition with a 7-0 victory in the final, claiming their eighth consecutive OFC U-20 Women’s Championship title.
