Unofficial results from the 2025 provincial elections indicate that Jennifer Kausei, candidate for the Vanua’aku Pati (VP), is leading in both the Freshwota and Ex-FOL polling stations for the Reserve seat on the Port Vila City Council (PVCC).

At the Ex-FOL polling station, Kausei received 184 votes in the first round and 167 in the second, giving her a total of 351 votes. She was followed by Theresiana Teilemb of the Union of Moderate Parties (UMP) with a combined 238 votes, Anne Marie Laure Laloyer of the Vanuatu Green Confederation (VGC) with 217 votes, Marie Antoinette Nirua of the Reunification Movement for Change with 201 votes, Albertine Raplili of the Graon mo Jastis Pati (GJP) with 196 votes, and Melka Numbu of the Leaders Party of Vanuatu (LPV) with 72 votes.

At the Freshwota polling station, Kausei widened her lead, securing 442 votes and bringing her unofficial total across both polling stations to 793 votes. Raplili followed with 553 votes, Teilemb with 501, Nirua with 476, Laloyer with 433, and Numbu with 161.

Despite the strong numbers for the VP candidate, election officials raised concern about the low voter turnout. Presiding Officer Webster Taboy at Freshwota confirmed that out of 1,647 registered voters, 1,643 valid votes were cast while four were void. He estimated that turnout was just 21 percent — a lower figure than in previous elections.

A similar trend was observed at the Ex-FOL polling station, where many eligible voters did not turn up on the day.
