About 360 items of handicraft and artifact by 245 members of Banganvanua area council of women on Maewo from 16 clubs in villages from Naumuumu to Navenevene and Naviso have been brought to Port Vila for sale to assist the women and their families with some income.
President of the council, Jerol Sakita, who is here in Port Vila for the sale says the items made from local seeds, bamboo, pandanus leaves, and calico consists of 18 baskets, 173 necklaces, 34 macrame, 17 fans, 69 salusalu, 11 armbands 17 pairs of earrings, 19 mats and some seed ornament drapes.
The products and the incentive are the fruits of a workshop run by Vanuatu National Council of Women (VNCW) trainer Mrs. Wendy Garae earlier this year which was attended by 54 women from throughout Maewo. READ MORE
