MALAMPA women rugby league team won the Provins Blong Orijin final against SHEFA in the grand final last Saturday at Korman Stadium.

MALAMPA defeated SHEFA 26-8 in a competitive match to walk home with the winning shield.

The young women in gold and black put up a brave performance against SHEFA as they played with nine players and with no reserve on the bench, the winning team were aggressive in their attacking game creating continous line breaks and were ruthless in their defence denying SHEFA chances to score.

MALAMPA captain Emma Nguyen was instrumental with her leadership role on the field as she showed a true fighting spirit which was evident in her attacking and aggressive defence skills. Her communication role to the players on the field was remarkable as she continues to direct her comrade forward.

The heavy weights upfront was outstanding with the likes of Fijian Amele Doloka who continues to bulldoze her way through the SHEFA defence line to create opportunities.

During the playoffs MALAMPA thrashed PENAMA 22-8 drew with SHEFA 8-8.

MALAMPA Catherine Savie was awarded player of the tournament in the women’s division.
