In their first-ever international beach volleyball competition, Vanuatu’s U18 players Jennifer Tom and Monick John showcased remarkable resilience at the Australian Youth U18 Beach Volleyball Championship held in Queensland, Australia.

Despite being newcomers, the young athletes secured three wins and faced tough challenges in five losses.

The Vanuatu Beach Volleyball Federation expressed immense pride in their achievements, highlighting the importance of this experience in shaping the athletes’ careers and fostering their potential to become elite players in the future.

While the results are part of the learning curve, we’re confident that with every step, they are gaining invaluable experience that will take them far in their volleyball careers,” a spokesperson from the Vanuatu Beach Volleyball Federation commented.

Meanwhile, also part of the FIVB beach Tour the Vanuatu women’s team of Shersyn Toko and Mayabelle Lawac continued to impress, adding another feather to their cap by defeating England’s top players in their Main Draw — Pool D match on Court 2.

The pair triumphed over England’s Star & Mumby in a thrilling three-set battle, winning 2-1 (15-21, 22-20, 15-12) on Thursday.

Toko and Lawac’s victory further solidified Vanuatu’s presence as a formidable force in the world of beach volleyball.

“The girls have truly outdone themselves with this victory. It not only demonstrates their skill but also shows the strength of Vanuatu’s beach volleyball program. We’re incredibly proud of what they’ve accomplished,” said a beach volleyball die-hard fan.

As the tournament progresses, the Vanuatu Beach Volleyball Federation is optimistic about the future of its athletes, emphasizing that this experience will be pivotal in shaping the next generation of champions.
